Equity Law Costing was established in 1997 by business
partners Wendy and Suzanna Popplewell. The firm has a wide
knowledge of legal costs and is experienced in all areas of
civil costs procedure providing a professional service. We
have the resources and expertise to deal with even the most
complex matters and have dealt with high profile matters
such as the BCCI litigation involving the Bank of England.
The firm has a policy of continual professional development
(CPD) for all draftsmen ensuring that they remain up to date
with changing legislation, procedure and case law.
Wendy Popplewell - Partner
Wendy has over 12
years experience in legal costs the last 7 of which she has
spent 'in house' under contract in one of the City of
London's largest solicitors. This experience has given Wendy
a perfect insight into the working of major legal practices
and places her in an ideal position to analyse and challenge
complex, highly complex and confidential legal costs.Wendy is currently the Chairman of the
Association of Law
Costs Draftsmen. The first female Chairman in the ALCD's 30
year history. She has been an ALCD Council Member since 2000
and was appointed Treasurer in 2004 before becoming Vice
Chairman in 2006. As a Fellow of the Association of Law
Costs Draftsmen Wendy has also been Legal Editor of the ALCD
Legal Update for the past 5 years and is a Member of the
Editorial Board of Butterworths Costs Service as well as
being a Member of the Institute of Legal Cashiers and
Administrators (ILCA).
Wendy regularly undertakes pro bono
costs work for the Royal Courts of Justice (RCJ), Citizens
Advice Bureau (CAB) and has been one of their panel members
for the last 6 years.
In July 2007 Wendy was amongst the first draftsmen to attend
the Inns of Court School of Law course to gain Rights of
Audience and the Right to Conduct Costs Litigation.
Suzanna Popplewell - Partner
Suzanna, a qualified solicitor, Fellow of the Institute of
Legal Executives and Fellow of the Association of Law Costs
Draftsmen has in excess of 15 years' costs experience. She
has had a number of costs related articles published.Prior to moving into costs she was a
fee earner in private practice in a leading West End of
London firm. She has experience of dealing with amongst
other things high value civil litigation, family and
criminal matters.
